M4 junctions 5 to 6 upgrade to smart motorway
There will be a full closure of the M4 in both directions between junctions 5 and 6. This is currently planned to take place from 8pm Friday 27 September 2019 to 6am on Monday 30 September 2019.
The closure will be between Junctions 5 and 6 on M4 and diversion will use A4 through Slough.
The Following Information is already in our Runners Information Book under “Travel” and has been for several years. The routes were drawn up in conjunction with the Police and Network Co-ordinator (Highways & Transport) Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
By following these routes you should be able to miss the worst of the congestion. The only change from the Travel section is travel from the East – DO NOT FOLLOW THE INFORMATION BOOK INSTRUCTIONS USE THE ROUTE BELOW
Anything around junction 5 or 6 on the M4 will be very heavily congested and there will be a number of vehicles using alternative routes other than prescribed, therefore it might be quicker to use below listed alternative points of access.
BY CAR Please allow at least 1 hour on top of anticipated journey time.
FROM THE EAST
Exit M25 at J13 onto A30 proceed to A329 to Ascot and then onto the A322 which takes you directly to the Event Car Park
FROM THE NORTH
Join M4 and travel westbound to J10. Take A329M to Bracknell.
At Twin Bridges roundabout continue on to the A329 signposted to Ascot.
At Heatherwood Hospital roundabout (near racecourse) turn left onto A332 towards Windsor. The route will be AA signposted
FROM THE WEST, Leave M4 at J10 and follow directions as above.
FROM THE SOUTH
Leave M3 at J3 and follow A322 towards Bracknell.
At first major roundabout, get in offside lane and take A332 to Ascot.
At Heatherwood Hospital roundabout (near the racecourse) continue on A332
towards Windsor. The route will be AA signposted.
