Our running events could not take place without volunteers. They play key roles in delivering a fun event which the runners love to come back to again & again. We are building a network of volunteers for our future events beginning this year 2024, so if you want an opportunity to help continue the fantastic atmosphere of the Windsor Running Festival which includes the Windsor Womens 10K on Saturday and the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday (Always last weekend in September) then read on, because here is your chance
Volunteer Roles & Opportunities
Course Marshalls
These volunteers are positioned at key points on the course to visually & verbally direct the runners the right way. Course marshalls are all fully briefed on their duties before the race starts & will have written instructions in case of emergencies
Baggage Marquee Volunteers
One of the busiest areas of the event at key times before and after the races, volunteers here will help keep queues and consequent waiting times, down by helping runners identify their bags and storing/retrieving them quickly and efficiently.
Finish Funnel Volunteers
Volunteers at these 2 stations will help the runners find their correct Start Gate to ensure a smooth start to the race and once the race has started these volunteers move to the finish funnels to hand out medals, water, and goodies plus a good measure of enthusiasm to the tired runners! All volunteers will need to be enthusiastic, helpful and willing to lend a hand to make the experience of the runners a positive and happy one at our events
Man Down Spotters
10 are needed – 5 on each side of the Long Walk approximately 50m apart. Each will be allocated a number which if there is a casualty or “Man Down” they hold aloft, this will be “spotted” by the medical coordinator in the finish area who will then inform the medical team who will be dispatched to the exact position of the casualty. Preferably people who have some form of First Aid training.
