The Organising Committee of the Windsor Half Marathon have been wrestling with this dilemma for several weeks now and after feedback from many runners and our Medical Support have agreed to trial the following in 2017:
Although it is a Traffic free course we do have the problem of Race Traffic (Course Security, Lead Car and Ambulances) driving through the 2 critical points marked on the course map above. Therefore we have decided to allow headphones but we are depending upon you, the runner to show a duty of care at these points. Point 1 stretches for approximately 1.5 miles and Point 2 for approximately 2 miles.
There may also be Ambulances elsewhere on the course at certain times so please be vigilant.
We are doing all we can to make this a safe environment for all participants and are hoping that you will do your “bit” to make this work for everybody.
